Whether they happen to be a large corporate chain or an independent boutique, online stores offer a mixture of benefits and drawbacks. It’s great to shop from the comfort of your home, without having to deal with crowds, traffic, messy stores, loud children and clueless salespeople. It’s wonderful to be able to visit ten stores in ten minutes – you’d never be able to do that, even in a shopping mall! And you get to choose from a much wider selection than you’d ever find in a physical store.

But online shopping can be a problem for a variety of reasons, too. First of all, for the most part, online stores do try to describe items in as much detail as possible. After all, they want to eliminate returns just as much as you do. But running an online store involves so much more than taking photographs and writing descriptions – there is marketing, hiring a good staff, training that staff, looking for more products to buy, testing shopping cart and coupon functions, sending and receiving customer service emails, and so much more. So sometimes online stores let things slip through the cracks. But the problem comes in when they make mistakes and don’t offer any remedy for them. No one likes to open a long-awaited package and discover that they’ve been sent the wrong thing. But what is even worse is when the online store fails to accept any responsibility for it.
