Novelty Store Websites Complaints

Online novelty stores are a great way to buy niche items that you may not be able to find in your town. Or, depending on the type of merchandise they sell, novelty stores can be an ideal way to buy items you might be a little embarrassed or hesitant to purchase in person. We at Complaints List are not here to pass judgements. We’re here to help you get justice and investigate claims made about unfair or dishonest treatment.

Just because the business does not have a brick-and-mortar storefront, it does not mean they can get away with poor customer service and fraudulent practices. Have you ever tried to search for an address, phone number or e-mail address on a retail site, and come up with nothing? That is not a good sign. Companies that care will post that information clearly – near the top of the page or on the footer. If the company does not want to hear from you, they will make it so difficult that you’ll just want to give up. But don’t let that happen! They are banking on the fact that you’ll tire of searching and just accept whatever issue was causing you a problem.

Like many of us who shop online, you may have purchased items that were not what you expected them to be. Sometimes an item will be advertised as new, but when you open the package, it’s clear that another customer returned it before. And sometimes a store will offer a “money back guarantee”, but only if your situation falls into a specific category.

Maybe the items you ordered were packaged poorly, so they were damaged when you received them? Or maybe the website’s “easy return policy” means that you have to pay for return shipping out of your pocket. If that is the case, then it must be clearly stated at the point of purchase.

Or how about this situation? You order from a website, only to get a very unprofessional sounding email in response. In brightly colored fonts and broken English, they inform you that there has been a problem with your order. Your address, phone number and credit card information did not process through the website, so would you be so kind as to send that information via email? Don’t worry, they say. Everything will be safe and secure. If you ever see this type of thing, run far away and report it as soon as possible! Even if you can see through this request for the obvious scam that it is, there are some people who are too trusting or just too naïve to catch on.

These practices are unethical, and they are intentionally misleading. You owe it yourself and to your fellow online shoppers to bring these companies to light and get the word out. We have a wide variety of choice about where we spend our money. Businesses that don’t play by the rules will soon be shut down. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it. Take action now and don’t let these shady online stores take another cent of our money!
