Rips customers off if they try and cancel service - Verizon Wireless

We were Verizon customers for over ten years. We called to cancel our 5 phones not under contract in March. They were not turned off so we went in person and asked to turn them off. Later we got a letter saying they had temporarily suspended the phones as we requested but would be turning them back on.

So we called again and were told it was taken care of. We were billed for the month of April and although we have called and stopped in the account was sent to collections. A customer service agent admitted they purposefully suspend instead of shutting the phones down to keep customers from leaving.

This is a scam but they know you have to pay to save your credit!
