Thinks They Are Bigger Than Consumer

I bought and had 17 boxes of Armstrong Bruce Model E2106 hardwood installed. The wood wasn’t fitting together properly. I notified Bruce immediately on Day 1 and was told to continue with the installation and it may fit together after more hardwood was installed. It initially worked but then started failing again. I coordinated once more with Bruce employees (Jason and Chris) by phone and told to proceed with the install.

After communicating for about two weeks with Bruce employees, the installation was complete and totally unsatisfactory as contrary to Bruce’s advice, the wood didn’t fit properly and posed a safety hazard. Bruce sent out their own their own so-called independent certifier who took as expected the company position.

When I objected, Bruce requested hat I submit an estimate for repairs and they would review it and make a determination. It cost me $30 to get that estimate. Bruce didn’t honor anything on the claim. The independent contractor that I hired cited some of the same issues that a survey of Bruce user’s cited.

Inconsistencies in the wood required the installer to open several boxes of wood to find similar errors in tolerance to get adjacent pieces to fit.

An internet search showed a survey of 80 consumers using Bruce hardwood. 74% of consumers called the Bruce hardwood unsatisfactory with 65% saying Bruce hardwood was VERY UNSATISFACTORY. Those findings, which my independent contractor cited as well, can be obtained by clicking on hyperlink: http://www.flooring.net/wood-flooring/reviews/bruce/

Copy of my independent contractor’s evaluation and other information is available if needed.
