PCMatic Will Not Respond; NOT GOOD!

My computer started acting up…booting up slow; taking for ever; I tried running a security scan to check for bugs and it said everything is fine…so issues.

One night while trying to surf the net a pop up appeared on a big solid blue screen stating that my computer was infected and to call the number on the screen immediately for help. my computer would not do anything; no matter what keys I hit nothing happened.

So, I called the number and it turns out it was Mircosoft security people and they told me my computer was infected and was about to crash and I would lose everything. they said they could fix it for$249.00 and that it would take about 45 minutes to an hour. I was on the phone with them for over three hours and during that time they said PC MATIC had not worked because they didn’t even have the right operating system being protected.

I had XM home addition and they had set up for some other operating system. so, it was not doing squat for my computer and it got infected badly. I tried and tried contacting PCmatic and to this day they have not contacted me back…it’s been about three years now.

I wanted to be reimbursed for having to have Microsoft fix my d**n computer or at least get a free year of help from them and you all know how that went.

I can’t believe these people advertise when they are obviously a scam!!! I have been having awful email issues and was told to try something other than McAfee, so having seen Mr. Cheng nonstop on Fox News I paid my $50 and got an email with a link but it did nothing. It didn’t appear that anything installed and it said I didn’t need to do anything. Once I clicked the link to “review my order” – BAM – no more internet access, can’t get to any site. Getting an email runaround. I would be thrilled if they would give me my money back without a fight since I now need to pay someone to fix this PLUS buy more software. And I’m getting an error trying to run my Malwarebytes

What a fraud! they do not respond to phone calls or return my calls. The litany of complaints and the fact that your first prompt when you call is an offer to refund your money. I wanted coverage not BS. I signed up but there was no way I could contact them.
They don’t even have my info. The TV networks that run their ads would do us all a big favor if they would just vet their advertisers.

I targeted 10 web sights that rate the top 10 Anti Virus protection software. Not one had PC Matic listed. Only Kaspersky and Bitdefender were listed in the top 10 in all ten sites. Bitdefender was rate #1 twice and Kaspersky was rate #1 once. Bitdefender had an average of 3.9 (the lower the average the better) and Kaspersky had an average of 4.8 on scales of 1 to 10.

    • PC Matic Support

The majority of those sites are resellers/affiliates of the aforementioned companies. Please note that these sites that list the “top AV products” get paid whenever someone buys from their site.

I have experienced numerous problems with Kaspersky AND trying to get your money back from them is horrible. I have put the charge in dispute now. And, I did not appreciate getting an email from them, written in Russian, when I contacted them about cancelling my purchase.

    • Kaspersky sucked. Ended up having to take my PC in. The OS had to be reinstalled due to viruses. I will stick with Norton. Hasn’t let us down yet.

    • Rob Johnson

Geek Squad uses Kaspersky at Best Buy. I had them put it on 2 computers. Biggest piece of crap on the planet.

  • LInda Stuart

I was the virus queen. I was shelling out money left and right because I was surfing and getting infected over and over again. Since I’ve had PC Matic I’ve had no problems on either of my computers. I’m very thank grateful for PC Matic.

PC Magic is the biggest scam perpetrated on the American public. I downloaded their free download several years ago and regret it. It made my computer run half it’s speed and there were no end to their pop ups to upgrade for a price. It also bypassed my Norton antivirus and let in a virus that fried my desktop computer. I have my computers built with experts & tell them what I need to have a computer with my specs. When I brought my computer in they immediately asked me if I downloaded PC Matic. They told me never buy a software program that claims your PC will run faster. Only a faster chip & a good video card will do it.

      • Debi Stein

Your computer builders are fully aware that routine “cleaning” of your computer will aid with the speed. Disk clean up, defrag, proper registry clean up, will help with speed. If your computer ran at half it’s speed it would appear there was a conflict present, that has not happened with my computer. And, I have not had any ads at all popping up. From what you said, you mentioned “it also bypassed my Norton antivirus” so there was most likely a conflict with running duo anti-virus programs. But, whatever got into your computer and “fried” it wasn’t stopped by your Norton…….which we had numerous problems with.

We do not offer phone support, nor do we charge $249.00 for PC Matic. The price is $50/year for 5 computers. What you encountered was a fake technical support scam. Google it, and you’ll see that even the FBI warns about these people.

I have had AVIRA the pay version for several years now with no problems at all the yearly cost is minor under $50 a year and they monitor your computer daily the PCMATIC is a joke. I also use MALWEAR BYTES and my computer never has any real problems.

  • Shuey52

Marde Gideon was taken in by a phishing scam. The screen from “Microsoft” was not from Microsoft. I do not have PC Matic and it happened to me today. The goal of the scam is to get you to call the phone # and allow them access to your computer.. and/or get a piece of your hard earned cash. What I did was bring up “Task Manager”, delete the entry and close the window. Then I did a system scan to ensure there was no tracking cookies or malware on my system. PC Matic is not at fault here.. Whether or not it is good, reliable software – I have no idea, but I do know this phishing scam is spreading like wildfire.. Don’t fall for it!

    • Josh Tipton

I have to agree with Shuey52. PCMatic is crap, but likely the fake microsoft people told you anything just to get you to pay them.

    • divanurse

Yes I agree with Josh. I hope you didn’t fall for that Microsoft BS. They told me my IP address was compromised and I need to pay 500.00 to get it fixed. I called at&t and they told me that was not true. I closed the screen and haven’t had any problems or seen that screen since. I don’t know about PC matic but I also know Microsoft is up to some BS too.

  • Colorado Consumer

PC Matic Software is the worst piece of junk I’ve ever had to deal with and their company’s complete inability to provide intelligent & efficient support for the product has caused me to demand a complete refund.

I spent 10 days & 28 E-mails with their supposedly “24/7 Support” and aside from the fact that their first 4 days of answers were lazy cut and paste responses rather than actually trying to diagnose the problem with their software…once they finally bothered to actually try to diagnose the issue they claimed it was because I had remnants of another product…a suite that contains my firewall..on my computer that was “conflicting” with theirs.

Malwarebytes…a more well known and respected malware product Identifies PC Matic as a VIRUS and it definitely acts like one. I’ve spoken with several people who work in IT and Tech for the US Military and they described PC Matic software as an overpriced and useless VIRUS.

I agree with those sentiments as PC Matic software made my entire system unstable and they were too lazy to pick up the phone or provide a support number for what would most likely been a 5 minute fix but rather made me trade e-mails

Their advertisements are full of misleading statements & falsehoods and people need to file complaints with the Consumer Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission to prevent them from preying on unsuspecting consumers.

    • Rodger

I have been using PC Matic for several years and have 4 computers protected. It does a great job for me. Their Supershield, included, has not allowed any virus into my computers and keeps them all operating efficiently with a scan every week.

    • PC Matic Support

      Colorado Consumer,

MalwareBytes no longer detects PC Matic as Potentially Unwanted. Please refresh your MalwareBytes definitions, and you will see they they have corrected their signatures. You can run MalwareBytes and PC Matic side-by-side.

  • Idadho

Rob Cheng is a snake oil salesman. PC Matic has 24/7 support….. Sure, submit a support ticket and they will tell you at any time (24/7) that they will respond within 24 hours. It should be 7/24 support. Seven days a week they will get back to you in 24 hours.
Most of the high priority results are MalwareBytes files. Rob Cheng has it in for MalwareBytes. He must be jealous. MalwareBytes outclasses PC Matic. Maybe somebody needs to file a complaint with the FTC for deceptive practices.

    • PC Matic Support

MalwareBytes is not being detected by PC Matic. Please scan your system again. The two products can run side by side.

CAUTION! It will take your computer over and delete other programs…worst decision I ever made> It is now off my units and I am restored. Note: Support Telephone Number is a South Carolina Area Code and redirects to *unknown computer* … BIG FAT SCAM ON TELEVISION AND INTERNET

  • c kling

It is a piece of crap I got 545 PUP virus and it would not run at all it was stored in the pc matic set up file Malwarebytes anti malware found it they need to quit adv. on the TV it is not worth the money.

  • Robert Rauch

Be aware of PC Matic. It is a scam. After you download their ant-virus program you download a virus that needs another one of their programs that is more money. That will happen several times. Be aware!
Any company that uses such an odd looking guy with his eyes too close together should be a red flag that its not a legitimate company.

  • Derek Matthews

Please get rid of your commercial on TV. That man is a horrible actor, his voice is obnoxious, and he says “PC Matic” so many times I can’t stand to see the words or heart it ever again.

  • kjdjr

If turning it off does not work, go to system restore and pick a day/s prior restore date. If it does not allow you to do this, turn off for 3 minutes, restart in SAFE mode, search system restore, follow directions and in 15 minutes back to normal and no need for scans. Works ONE HUNDRED percent of the time. Again, 100 percent of the time.

    • Josh Tipton

Nothing works 100% of the time.

  • PC Matic Support

PC Matic does not call anyone purporting to be from Microsoft. These are often referred to as “tech support scams”. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) even has an alert about it. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0346-tech-support-scams
Please understand, if you receive these calls or you receive an alert/popup from a webpage, do not call the number. If you need support for PC Matic, please go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/support/#/customerservice and a technician will assist you via email. If you want to post in a forum visit https://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/forum/29-pc-pitstops-paid-products/ and someone will assist, too.

  • Five

People, if a screen is popping up telling you that you have acquired some horrible virus that has allegedly infected your computer and you cannot close the web page and it tells you to call “Microsoft” immediately and do not turn off your computer or close the web page (even though you couldn’t close it anyway), it is a SCAM. It may tell you that you have the Zeus virus and it may say or display “windows defender” and tell you to call an “800” or “866” number right away to speak to a technician. IT IS A SCAM! There is nothing wrong with your computer. Turn the computer off, wait about sixty seconds and turn your computer back on. You are waiting sixty seconds to ensure that anyone who tried to connect to your computer while this false web page was up is completely disconnected. You do not need to wait three days as one of the negative reviewers did.
I am not associated with PCMatic. I use a virus protection program that is provided for free by my internet service provider. I have thought about using PCMatic, but have never convinced myself to pull the trigger since I get a free service. As a result, I cannot comment on PCMatic at all. I only know that the “your computer has been infected by a virus” screen is almost always a malware bug or other phony message that got into your computer and is trying to get you to buy services that you do not need.

    • Rodger

Instead of turning off your computer, push Ctrl, Alt, and Delete all at the same time and select Task Manager (which will still be working) and delete the blue screen application.

  • 88Inator

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago. Just as described above. I let them do the whole presentation thing. Then I told them I didn’t have the money. Dead silence. She went on and on about can’t I get the money here or from there like family? I said no. Then I asked this question, “Can’t you give me an invoice number for the work to be done and I’ll call and have the work done next week?” Like they should be able to do that, but they couldn’t. She then went on about, “Oh no sir, I can’t tell you we would be able to do that.” See the scam is, you give them your info to fix the machine and now they have all your info. I told them screw it I’ll just get a new computer. Unplugged it for 3 days, came back and turned it on and it worked where before it was frozen solid. Paid for Bytefence and a year of PC Matic and I’m stylin without having to buy a new computer.

    • Wardialer Turden

Load of BS. Get malwarebytes, use windows firewall and get rid of the junkware.

  • Interrocitor

Come on guys!!! the clue was in the top 5000 fastest growing companies blurb! What is that anyway right in between Uncle Bob’s a**l rash creme extract and Honey Boo Boo jammies, Inc.? LOL grow up!!

  • Odinson

Norton is no better. They have an automatic renewal system. I checked their website and found out that I could have paid half as much if I cancelled it and repurchased it. Computers should come with antivirus systems preinstalled and free. My brother got a brand new computer and on the first day of use got a computer virus that cost 100$ to remove.:p

    • xltc5

Ditto…no better. I incurred problems immediately after installing it. I had to uninstall, restore, and BTW…Norton NEVER refunded my money. Sent confirmation request w/paperwork and I know they got it. I’ll backup routinely and buy another computer if necessary before I buy another p.o.s. ‘antivirus’.

  • Piquerish

Although the PC Matic program itself seems to run as advertised, two problems — one spawned by the other — make me a One-Time Subscriber only. The whole white list thing proved tougher than me when it nailed a program I want to run, and have run for years, with a false positive. I could not get PCM to stop killing it with that bloody Shield. I wrote to PCM’s customer service for help and got back the boiler plate discussion of the white list … at least two pages of it. This is the same one you can review on line on their website. After two weeks of frustration, I wrote again and a month later I’ve have had zero response from them. So, okay then, PC Matic. You win, I lose. But I won’t be back when my subscription expires. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I pass on any product that tells me if I don’t buy it, I hate ‘merica. Patriotism or religion as an advertising strategy tells me a lot about the product – usually not good.

  • mdh3

I can’t believe the crap I am seeing here. I have had PC Matic now for about 5 years. Tried all kids of freeware and even bought a couple over the years, like Norten (talk about slowing a computer down). If I needed customer service for a problem with these other anti-virus programs I had another problem. Understanding them and getting nowhere. I was ready to get another computer because mine was locking up and crashing all the time. It took forever to boot. Since I got PC Matic, it is like I got a new computer. It runs great, it is fast and I have had no problems what so ever. I recommend them to everyone I see. Important note: PC Matic is the only anti-virus that stops Ransom Ware, that I know of.

    • Piquerish

I tend to agree with you about the program itself, but the CUSTOMER service I recieved is nil, none, zilch, nada and zero. This makes me an unhappy CUSTOMER.

      • Rodger

How strange!! When I contact them (and that is rarely) they are very helpful and once even took over my computer to correct the problem (which was not caused by Pitstop).

    • G Maxie

Not a Mac, I work at a computer shop and we get Mac’s in all the time hit with malware. The true solution is Ubuntu Linux. I have used it and only Ubuntu for eight years, no downtime no problems no money spent on anything.

      • 1265

We’ve had acMAC for 3+ years….no viruses, malware, foistware and everything else that mr Gates has left you to deal with! btw, the owner of pcmatic is a Trump supporter~’nuff said.

You must be a real nut case as you sound like a real HILLARY supporter, or maybe a looney tune OBASTARD supporter. Hope your happy in Canada now that TRUMP has won.

    • Piquerish

Tried that. The Mac Mini I bought 1) cost too much, 2) was under powered with a slowwwww processor, and 3) came with SOLDERED RAM – so upgrading that was impossible. Used to love MAC. Not any more.

The internet has truly let the little scared people run their mouths without fear of having a knuckle sandwich. There is no way some of these comments on here would ever be spoken face to face with the people they are replying to. Pure entertainment. How great would it be if one day someone put a world wide program on the net that would identify everyone on the net. That would be a great day.

I mean I heard that same mommy insult from a blue-box hacker in the alt2600 groups once… what was his nickname Preacher? FatherBob?. Dude! You are dating yourself. All you guys overdosing on testosterone caps from those Mexico pharmacies need to chill out for chiseakes! Even if they put up a universal identity tool, what are you going to do? Go around and bash everyone in the mouth? How long do you think your knuckles will last? And really, if you were the dangerously evil psychopath your mirror tells you you are, wouldn’t you just go ahead and track us all down with your Dr. Evil computer skills and then call up Pinky and the Brain to concoct a evil plan to take over the world and go on a ride-along to kill all the people you really hate – like your mommy? The person who left you this emotionally disfunctional, social reject with a sexual identity crisis problem that has resulted in six ex-wives and a pathological masturbation addiction?

Who is this clown that does the TV ads? He is so bad and unprofessional that there is now way I would buy the product.

Mike: He is the owner. You should do a search on his name and read about him instead calling him names and judging a book by its cover.

GO AWAY FOOL….climate has been changing for 6 BILLION YEARS….looooooooooooong before the industrial revolution….FYI 2 volcanoes erupted in Mexico this week….shooting an estimated (BY SCIENTIST) more CLIMATE CHANGING CO2 and hundreds of other gases than ALL OF MANKIND has in the last 10 years…..go hide under your “Sky is falling rock” Tom FOOL.

      • Manuel Fernandez

Climate change has always been present, true. But not at the current rate (speed) that it is at today. The danger is the abnormal speed at which climate is changing. It has never happened before in the history of the planet. PC Matic sounds kinda shady too.

        • Mike “mayormike” Mortimore

It has in fact changed greater than today in the last 2000 years i.e. – evidence of civilizations appearing as glaciers recede and the medieval warming period. But that does not fit with the climate change political agenda.

        • beingstill

At what point are normal and sane people going to start asking questions like, “Gosh, how has the Earth survived for presumably BILLIONS of years just fine, and now a couple years of carbon dioxide is going to send the whole eco-system into a tizzy?!” “Global Climate Change” used to be called “weather.” Tell me, how ARROGANT has “science” become when people in white coats think they can tell people that the Earth has never seen these levels of “global warming”? Really, supposedly at one point the Earth was a ball of fire? So, what is it you’re trying to “sell” people in order to justify the largest Ponzi scheme on Earth perpetrated by the government of “supposedly” the freest people on Earth!? I’m sorry, it’s approximately 7am where I live, and I’ve already had enough “crazy” for today! Scientists cannot “prove” global warming the way the want to “sell” it. Instead of Cap-and-Trade, why are they not pushing for solar panels? And, if solar panels are the way (or, at least ONE way) to go about a “fix,” why aren’t those same scientists putting solar panels on their homes? You see, this has NOTHING to do REALLY about “global warming;” and has EVERYTHING to do with the funding of science programs via government grants. It’s quid pro quo: the government pushes a tax scheme onto the People, the People HAVE to pay it or go to jail, and the universities get BILLIONS of grant money aided to them by the governments that stole the money in the first place! You’ve been duped, Manuel! Sorry! This is a Ponzi scheme of the highest order; you know what “they” say: if you’re going to lie… tell a doozy! People are more likely to believe it because it’s so ridiculous it MUST be true!!!

          • Jim

Interesting too that 30 years earlier it was the same basic loon Leftists that were running around with their hair on fire screaming about how the Earth was cooling. They just can’t seem to make up their minds.

          • ajay

Jim, they would have to have a mind to make up first!

        • Doug Gill

Really, take this debate elsewhere, I am considering this product and I think I will purchase it. Why does is “sound kinda shady?”

      • Doug Gill

Stop the name calling. Is this an appropriate forum for a climate change debate?

      • Will setag

I understand yoyr point but don’t give these global warming nuts anu ammunition. The earth is 4.8 billion years old. Not 6. The earth has destroyed its self at least 6 times with st least two total ice over snowball planet effects.

Its called rhythm and its constantly going up and down.

        • Vincent Ardolino

I don’t think I can list hem all here but i’ll try.

Obama Administration uses IRS to target conservative, Christian and pro-Israel organizations, donors, and citizens.

In an unprecedented attack on the First Amendment, the Obama Justice Department ordered criminal investigations of FOX News reporters for doing their jobs during the 2012 election year.

President Obama, throughout his Presidency, has refused to enforce long-established U.S. immigration laws. For example . . .

More than 300,000 captured illegal aliens had been processed and were awaiting deportation. But, incredibly, Obama stopped these deportations and ordered the U.S. border patrol to release many of these illegal aliens in violation of law and without explanation.

Congress rejected Obama’s so called DREAM ACT – which would have granted permanent residency to many illegal aliens. So Obama enacted his own version of the DREAM ACT by Executive Order, thus directly defying Congress. According to Obama’s Executive Order, illegal aliens can stay in America if they are under the age of 30, have been in America for at least five years, are enrolled in school or have graduated from high school, and have committed no felonies.

Obama has refused to build a double-barrier security fence along the U.S.-Mexican border in direct violation of the 2006 Secure Fence Act. This law requires that “at least two layers of reinforced fencing” be built along America’s 650-mile border with Mexico. So far, just 40 miles of this fence have been built – most of it during the Bush Administration.

Obama’s unconstitutional assault on your Second Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

President Obama issued, in one day, 21 separate Executive Orders that attack and undermine your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Especially egregious is President Obama’s Executive Orders amending the ObamaCare law to allow doctors and hospitals to investigate which patients own a gun. This outrageous Executive Order could allow the federal government to track and monitor law-abiding gun owners simply because they sought medical care.

Obama’s assault on Christians and religious freedom.

Obama’s Health and Human Services Department has, on its own (without Congressional approval), issued a mandate that all health insurance plans must include coverage for a******n-inducing drugs. As a result, pro-life employers and taxpayers are now effectively required by law to pay for abortions.

This mandate is an unconstitutional attack on the protections for freedom of religion and freedom of conscience in the First Amendment and the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This mandate also directly violates the ObamaCare law enacted by Congress, which prohibits any and all taxpayer funds from being used to pay for abortions.

Obama forced ObamaCare on an unwilling public through bribery and lying about its cost.

Obama managed to secure passage of ObamaCare by one vote in the Senate by bribing senators. He bribed Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska with the notorious “Cornhusker Kickback.” He bribed Senator Mary Landrieu with the infamous $300 million “Louisiana Purchase.”

In addition, Obama knowingly and blatantly lied to America and to Congress about how much ObamaCare would really cost. The cost of ObamaCare to the American people over the next 10 years will not be less than $1 TRILLION, as Obama promised in his nationally televised speech to the nation. Instead, the real cost of ObamaCare to the Federal Treasury is $2.4 TRILLION, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.

But the true cost of ObamaCare is more like $10 TRILLION when you factor in the cost to the states, the cost to individual Americans who are now required to purchase Obama-approved health plans (the “Individual Mandate”), the cost of exploding health insurance premiums, the $716 billion ObamaCare steals from Medicare, and the increased cost to businesses of complying with ObamaCare mandates.

          Operation Fast & Furious.

“Operation Fast & Furious” was the Obama Administration’s gun-running scheme that put thousands of American-made semi-automatic weapons in the hands of Mexican drug cartels and resulted in the death of at least one U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry. Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress and the public, claiming he didn’t know about his Justice Department’s Fast & Furious operation.

Congress has now held Holder in contempt for defying congressional subpoenas and refusing to turn over thousands of Justice Department documents on Fast & Furious. President Obama asserted Executive Privilege to try to protect Holder. But for Executive Privilege to apply, Obama would have had to have known about Fast & Furious, making the President as culpable as Holder.

Investigators suspect that Fast & Furious was an effort by the Obama Administration to discredit lawful gun ownership in America by purposefully creating gun crimes, thus inducing public outcry for gun control. When it put thousands of semi-automatic weapons in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, the Obama Justice Department knew these guns would be used to commit crimes, perhaps even kill some Americans. Then Obama could say: “See how dangerous these guns are. We must ban them.”

Very Well said VINCENT!! It seems as tho that IDIOT CALLED tomcat GOT MORE THAN HE ASKED FOR!!! I have not seen his response to your answer. He is probably hiding under a rock with Obama & Hillary.

          • beingstill

Vincent, you’re my kinda people! :-) However, please stop using facts, truth, and logic to present your point(s). Liberals do not know how to respond; something in their brains “snap” when one uses facts, truth, and logic… hence the yelling of “hater!” has been used so much recently. I hear using the -phobic suffix to things they like, enjoy, and wish to emulate works, too! :-)

          • gloria

Add to the list Benghazi attacks that Obama and Hillary watched in real time without aiding our Navy Seals and Ambassador, then lied about it until their lies were outed by news sources. Also, officials were told not to arrest or shoot any of the savages that were looting, burning and murdering cops during their (riots) “protests.” However, when ranchers who are hard working, Christian, family men protested the Obama and Harry Reid’s land grab they federal officials murdered one and imprisoned the rest. These salt-of-the earth farmers and their descendants provided food for us and have grazed their cattle on these lands for hundreds of years.

          • Doug Gill

        • RockySpin

Ok: I disagree with all the legislation (your word was “legistration”) Obama passed. He’s the worst president the US has had in the past 100 years plus.
He believes in the Global Warming meme, which, as a degreed scientist, I can tell you is nothing but bunk (look up Maurice Strong for starters).

    • Jerry39

If he bashed Obama, he must be OK, so I guess I’ll buy his program.

    • Paternoster305

I purchased PCMATIC when it was first introduced. It was less than satisfactory as my computer crashed as a result of a virus that got through. However, the latest version is far superior. I have it established on my computer and it works just fine. When it runs it finds no viruses ore malware of any consequence because the SUPERSHIELD PROTECTION blocks them. I run a couple of other programs just to keep PCMATIC honest and they also show no problems after their scan.I purchased PCMATIC because of their claim to block Ransomeware, which has got to be the most insidious virus to date. I am also careful what I download and if a POPUP tells me my computer has been ravaged or words to that effect I immediately delete it or shut down the computer if the deletion is unsuccessful which is true most of the time. When I restart the message is gone. I have never received an ad asking me to purchase more product. As for the complaints about the personal appearance of the oriental who sells the program on TV, I do not think that having a slick, smooth talking professional does in any way prove the efficacy of the product — in fact it may be just the opposite!

  • Linda McCarron

This guy and his product look like a joke. I would NEVER buy this product.

    • allhaileris

Shouldn’t you actually USE the software before posting complaints? Why is this drivel not screened out?

I always avoid anything that someone needs to sell on TV ads, especially with a gimmicky schtick and name. “PC Matic”? But what ticked me off, in his latest add, he tries to create fear about cyber security attacks, and blames Obama for not stepping up national security because we always know “IT’S OBAMA’S FAULT!” This may appeal to Tea Party types and he might get their $, but he’s alienated a lot of people not just who don’t hate Obama or think he’s evil, but people who see him trying to drag divisive politics into his marketing, and I think that’s going to be the demise of his company. Granted non-geek types, (like Tea Baggers) are the ones that blindly buy products like that, rather than check reliable sites like PC magazine or google reliable sources, but he’s gone too far trying to use fear and divisive politics to sell his crap. Get the word out. Tell your non-geek friends. I use Norton not because it’s the best, but because it’s free, and I don’t live in fear or have serious private info on my computer. But I have a lot friends and family that are non-technical, and often they ask me for computer advice, and my first suggestion, is don’t buy crap like this.

    • Jj

I totally agree. As soon as I saw their commercial, I began looking for somewhere to post my concerns. Not that we need to see the world through rose colored glasses, but the constant denigration of our country and our President is having the effect of destroying low information citizens confidence and creating unnecessary fear. I wish business and politicians would concentrate on what they do and stop fear mongering.

      • mks281

I thought the same thing when I saw the Obama diss. I was considering them until I saw that and am thankful actually because otherwise I would not have been motivated to do research which led me to find they are a terrible company!

So, with your logic, businesses should just stick to what they do and government what it does. Gosh, I really wish some businesses, people, churches, and community activists would’ve been more vocal in 1930’s Germany! That would’ve saved a WHOLE lotta lives… MILLIONS!!!! At what point will those who disagree with those “bashing” Obama start to realize that’s the sign of a HEALTHY political environment?!? When you can no longer criticize your government, then you’re in REAL trouble!!! And, to wit, it “may” be fear mongering to state facts, truth, and logical points about what politicians have done, are doing, and plan to do in the future. But, what does it say of someone that would rather people just keep their mouths shut while letting the corrupting forces keep working their evil plans?!? I think it’s Edmund Burke that’s been credited with the quote, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” You seem to be in favor of evil triumphing, Jj.

    • columbr

@toohip – This Tea Bagger geek agrees with your product assessment and laughs at your political assessments.

    • MDB

I also agree. The recent advertisement makes me sick – from the background music to the insinuation that all economic, security and social problems in America can be solved by this guys crappy software. Fear mongering seems to be working well for DJ Trump and the Cliven Bundy’s of the world, but hopefully that seemingly silent majority who are less gullible and more intelligent than those who are susceptible to the fear-mongorers will find ways to silence not only Mr Cheng and his unbelievably stupid messages, but also the likes of Trump and Bundy.

      • Vincent Ardolino

So you must not like the Constitution or Bill of Rights… Strange that any American would reject these things which have allowed America to grow prosperous elevating the lives of millions out of poverty.

        • beingstill

I’m sorry, can you please elucidate? The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written from the perspectives of men who were trying to set up an honest and good society. What does that have to do with MDB’s comment? Unless you’re trying to deprive MDB the very rights you’re implying are for Mr. Cheng and his software ads!?!

    • bushteacher

It’s a shame bringing up politics to list a complaint. Actually ovomit does the same thing by crying crocodile tears and implying that gun laws hurt only the children. Reminds me of the tears from Tammy Faye Baker. If you have a complaint, just list it without putting politics into play. .

    • beingstill

To keep in the spirit of not bringing politics into selling something, let’s keep any and all politicians out of our reviews of PCMatic and/or other software. You try to say it’s a bad thing while trying to defend Obama; you’re delving into the same area(s) you’re trying to say is bad to do. This seems disingenuous at best, and hypocritical at worst; either way, just stick to your review and let others do their “thing” about that which you hate.

  • Kellix

If you want the best any-virus go here, guess what as you can guess PC matic is not on here. lol http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2372364,00.asp

  • Kellix

Linda ping me on twitter, I could probably save your laptop hard drive I’m a server admin for 15 years I knew PC matic was a scam, since some of the best anti-virus companies he fails to name, also on that commercial they showed military photos, I’m sure they got a cease and desist letter from the US govt. They really need to shut this little bastards company down, why the old phrase if its too good to be true than it is, and DO NOT TRUST Chinese products like PC products. Eventually they will get him for tax evasion or something like that. Like I said I could probably save your info. This software I could tell was total GARBAGE. Sorry you had to go thru with it, He needs to go to jail for like 20 years.

  • Andres Daniel Montenegro C.

Dont EVER EVER and EVER buy any Chinese products like this one…PC Matic is a Chinese SCAM….dont buy it, because you will REGRET IT!!!!

  • Barbara

Bonny Brooks is absolutely right. I fell for the PC Matic TV ads and bought it back in early spring. I keep getting the same annoying popups to install the Super Shield 0000, too. Just before they started showing up, I stopped being able to do my own scans. When I click my icon, a white screen comes up and a message telling me that the screen cannot be displayed. I think PC Matic is still automatically running scheduled scans for me, though. Hope so, anyway. Very disappointed in this product.

  • E Thomas

The guy below says anyone should be able to run PCs without the help of such software. Maybe, if you don’t run a business and have several PCs, he would have a point.
We have PCs running Win 7 and Win 10. We didn’t go crazy and just installed PC Matic on a few PCs. We have had most of our issues on the Windows 10 OS. We get the constant reminders that SuperShield is not installed, when in fact it was installed several times. The program appears to conflict with the MSFT’s Defender program that is part of the Win 10 OS.
Issue is not as bad on the Win 7 machines, but still not able to pick up simple “viruses” such as MIXI DIXI. Also letting through too many spam/fishing programs.
I’m not so sure it has been a prudent purchase. HOWEVER, if you have employees and are networked in anyway, this program isn’t too bad. They DO need to work on their tech support. Need to communicate with employees as if they know nothing about computing. Telling a non-computer person to work in the registry and modify it can be dangerous. Just one example. Cheers.

  • Bara Bam

The Chinese guy complaints about all other country except his own China. A snake salesman using Americans Consumers. China is destroying the world with their cheap labor. He is creepy.

    • toohip

What I find “ironical” is that he’s appealing to the extreme right-wing types in blaming Obama for a weak cyber security and using fear of cyber security, but at the same time this same ilk, would give a Chinese businessmen the time of day when selling products, and cry Nationalism. It might not be PC to out this guy as classic Chinese marketing and inflame anti-(communist) China sentiments, but it’s fair game now that he’s blaming our U.S. President, and appealing to the extreme political rhetoric to push his crap.

      • columbr

@toohip, Remember the stuff said about Bush before you start your tirade. Please keep your politics out of a product assessment.

      • mks281

Think of it this way, only right wingers will buy the crap now…and it’ll cost them money…and maybe shut down their computers for a while…see, every cloud has a rainbow.

  • Bonnie Brooks

I bought this PC Matic back in July of 2015, this product is no good. A box with there name kept coming on the screen, and wanting permission to install PC Matic Super Shield 0000 onto my computer. It had program location as follows: C:ProgramDataPCPitstopDatInstallspcn/SPAWNWND=$604A4/NOTIFYWND=#3009C/verysilent. So what do this tell you people. This company PC Matic is after money. I would not tell anyone to fool with these people. How did this get by there program. They are behind this. DO NOT BUY.

  • Barbara

I’ve had PC Matic since late Spring/early Summer, and have been well pleased with it. I like the speed of the scan……BUT……for the past couple of days, when I try to launch it, all I get is a white window screen, then a message appears in it that the page cannot be displayed, and lists 3 things that I might try. Is anyone else having this problem?

I had the same problem with the PC-Matic White List but a totally opposite response. I filled out their online support form and within a few hours had a tech on the phone who walked me through how to manage the White List. BTW – he was not in India

  • 2freemen

I purchased pc matic in 2014 my computer crashed recharged 2/615/. purchased
new computer, pc matic was auto downloaded at startup. Have been unable to
contact support/ emailed support according to instructions adding csticket@ pcpitstop.com to mail list and never receive a response or follow up. PC matic scans my computer and locks up during security scan then takes nearly 2 hrs. to complete. when I check reports It states fixes are recommended I thought that was the purpose of pc matic.

    • toohip

What would worry me about these creepy software packages, especially from a foreign business not under the scrutiny of U.S. oversight and investigation, is that they could load malware such that it lurks in the background either stealing information or sending information to online sources. . . even AFTER it’s been allegedly “uninstalled.” I know there are security s/w that scans for malware or these hidden files, but why have to go to a second level of security like that, just don’t install questionable software like this.

  • George H. Baldwin

I fell for the TV ads and bought this software. Immediately, my computer slowed down and – of course – I got all sorts of “false positives” for malware, etc. Went online and read other reviews about this product and immediately expunged it from my computer. I was willing to take a $50 hit and be rid of it, once and for all. Caveat Emptor!

  • TBT

I started with PCMatic with the one year/5 computer account and was pleased enough to sign up for the evergreen account which provides for 5 computers for life. I just recovered from a problem with not being able to load PC Matic on one computer. I read the very CLEAR requirement to address tech support by email and had extensive communications with PC Matic tech support over three days. I received 8 responses from tech support over three days . All responses were from techs located in the US and were written in clear understandable English. ( I note the anguish I have had with so many other tech support calls that end up in India with a tech that I can not understand who usually wants access to my computer-not so with PC Matic!).
PC Matic did not give up on my problem and after 3 days with their support it was fixed. I do believe that the error occurred because of a spy ware program putting a PC Matic program in the internet security prohibited list.
To all the complaints about PC Matic tech support, I encourage you all to read the VERY CLEAR communications reguirements.

    • 2freemen

You must be on Pc Matic Pitstops Payroll!

      • Vincent Ardolino

        That was my thought exactly.

I can’t stand this pale-eyed newt’s annoying sing-song irritating ad delivery. He was replaced for awhile with some girls who knew nothing about the electronics they were attempting to sell with their screeches and phony gesticulations. Why did pc-matic put this creep back on as the ad spokesman? The ad repeated it brand name ten times! It was the most annoying ad on TV! He must be the owner trying to save the cost of a commercial actor. Would you buy a computer service from such of cretin?

    • TBT

Yes. I bought the evergreen product after one year on 5 computers. I had a problem loading on one computer last week and received 8 responses from tech support in 3 days from techs in the US who write excellent English.
      Problem fixed!

That’s crap it’s as bad a virus…I used it and it was a pain in the a*s to disinfect my computer, he should be in jail.

  • Freedom

I used it free and found it to be an excellent product. I purchased it outright no monthly payments. And it is an excellent performer on Windows 10……

  • Reger

I am glad someone can do their research.

  • I have it. It works fine. I get e-mail support responses within 24 hours. Read their forums if you can’t wait….Cryptolocker now happens to be in the news tricking people who think they are downloading Windows 10. I’ve used it on an XP machine for almost a year this November 2015. Avast, AVG, and even McAfee, Kaspersky and Norton won’t work on an XP machine. I do believe my computer has a year or more of useful life left. If you’re like me, Who’s owned a Gateway PC since the year 2000, my Gateway support has long run out. PC Matic support forwarded me support documentation/instructions/recommendations for problems that, I did have with PC matic, but steps to take if it couldn’t be fixed by PC Matic. Flash vulnerabilities are another biggie in the news, and I can distinctly remember Mr. Rob Cheng himself on TV stating that other AV protection does not guard against that stuff. I really do see a lot of value in PC Matic, EVEN IF I’m smart enough not to click on everything I see. Honestly, if you have Win10, you can probably get by with nothing more than common sense & just don’t click stuff you don’t know what is. But PC Matic is STILL supporting Windows XP long after MICROSOFT stopped. I’m not ready to throw my Gateway in a woodchipper to be recycled. It’s more valuable as a computer to me right now than it is in scraps, that’s all. My experience was quite positive. Thanks, PC Matic.

    • k9sasha1

I have an HP with XP Professional and AVG Internet Security Suite works perfectly. I doubt you know anything about computers but what the heck

      • Hello Dear Community,

What the heck is a computer, anyway!?!?! Just Kidding, j/k…..
I actually know more about computers than I’d care to know. I quite honestly was being polite because I’m afraid the folks complaining about PCMatic on ComplaintList here are having so many problems because they don’t know enough common sense. I saw a complaint whose credibility I must challenge when they spell waste of time a “WAIST” of time. I originally discovered this website and thread simply googling to find out if PC Matic works (and it IS) compatible with the new Windows 10 (PC Matic fully compatible w/ Win10).
        I’ll say this:

1.) Sometimes you literally have to think before you click on stuff. Most smart folks could get by with little or no paid protection as long as they don’t give their credit card # to the first Nigerian that sends them an e-mail.

2.) Just as well, I was kinda worried some of the complainers here didn’t even reach PC Matic’s real website and tragically paid for or downloaded something completely different, or worse.

3.) If you don’t have a 1Ghz processor or faster, their system requirements don’t recommend PCmatic, However, I’ve had success with a 722mhz Intel Pentium 3 Coppermine processor, machine purchased in the year 2000 (w/ Windows 98 originally installed) upgraded to WinXP.

4.) Note that the companies in results that show up in PC Magazine’s top 5 antivirus list ALL PAY for independent lab testing, however, the Virus Bulletin rap test is the one PC Matic rises to the top of.

5.) All my good experiences with PC Matic have been on XP, Win7, and Win 8.1 computers.

6.) As I alluded to in my original post, I can essentially receive technical support (for my entire life) for my Windows XP machine at no additional cost, certainly when the problem is linked to a problem due to PCMatic malfunction, and virtually any issue I can tie back to PC Matic. Via e-mail, I can provide screen shots (if applicable), the steps I’ve taken/replicate problem and/or the complete detailed “Error Message” numbers and text —- Albeit, it’s e-mail support, not chat/instant message, nor phone, but the technician responses often include links to complete help articles/documentation/literature, and for the technical minded, it SHOULDN’T be a problem. For the folks on THIS website, I’m pretty sure it’s a tall order to ask a lot from them though.

I used Windows PC’s all my life until 5 yrs ago I bought an Apple MacBook. The only reason I still need anti-virus security is this older Gateway running WinXP (and the fact Macs can run Windows, it’s still a good idea to have antivirus if you wanna do that). For the money, for an individual user (not business/enterprise/government), and for what it does and is (an anti-virus and one-stop computer maintenance) for up to FIVE computers that you can swap-out & re-assign, I seriously do find it a good value — Made and supported in U.S.A. When I learned AVG is made in the Czech Republic and Kaspersky is from Russia, I’m kinda’ glad I don’t use them anymore.

        Thanks for reading!

        • Throb Gobblin

You are running windows xp on the internet in 2015. Your opinion is invalid.

  • Tim

My friend and I were watching CNN. The ad popped in promising to clear out and make your PC run faster with protection. ..
Seriously, if you cannot maintain your PC with all the knowledge out there for FREE and toss your dollars towards some company because you’re a noob or oblivious then switch to Linux. Or just pull the d**n plug.

If someone cannot maintain a PC, how are they going to navigate the command line in Linux?

Sorry this bulls–t, just because they have actresses with military stuff behind, I guarantee the govt doesn’t use them, I am sys admin, notice 2 companies they don’t have on there? Webroot because it kicked their azz and trend micro, which is made in Germany, I know hackers that have told that’s what they buy because you can’t beat it. PC magic is a scam plain and simple and wish the USA does a cease and desist letter to make them quit using are military’s planes, love the guy running it he looks Chinese as can be, you rag other countries how many times has China broken into our PCs, China is No 1. Do not buy look up on PC magazine or PC World they always have their top 10, guarantee PC matic is not on the list.

Apparently you are not such a good SYSADMIN, Trend Micro is from JAPAN!
So your “professional” opinion is crap.

      • bushteacher

And the word is “matic,” not “magic.”

  • Mac

I have seen the recent commercials for PC Matic and all I can say if you want to sell software then just sell the product for what it is. The point you are making with the display of guns has nothing to do with the product you are selling. I have been a Network Administrator for 31 years and I have never been more disturbed by the misleading message you are trying to tell the consumers. Displaying soldiers, tanks and guns on your hips does not protect your computer from viruses. I was considering buying this product for my department until I viewed the last commercial. Would not buy from you now if you were the only available software for sale.

    • Harry

I agree. The present commercial is sickening.

    • Linda Nixer

Ahhh yes selling with other tools is weird. You apparently just don’t like the miltary or guns. To bad. Your comment made up my mind. I will buy PC Matic.

      • phaedrus63

Well, that sounds well reasoned. I look forward to hearing your experiences after your install.

      • mks281

Good! As you likely found out, PC Matic is a POS

Layered security VPN, sand box and antivirus helps. But private Encryption has been on the back-burner since 1990’s and shell bash # flaws don’t help. Swiss cheese design in the OSI stack only slows the damage down. Good behaviors add a extra layer of protection.

Is Rob Cheng retarded? Who buys software from a cross-eyed used car salesman on TV. Wen I find some client I don’t want to deal with anymore, I tell them to get PCmatic. I would never us this crapware, or recommend it to anyone I like.

    • Srod

“Retarded”?! “Cross-eyed” ?!!! “the guy running it he looks Chinese “?! Are you all ignorent and racist? How about you research Rob Cheng’s background and education. He is a brilliant and savvy engineer and business man. Not to mention a born and bred American.

    • bushteacher

I knew used-car dealers were suspect, but using the term “retarded” really shows no love for people with mental problems.

  • Jim Lahey

The claims Pc Matic makes are absolutely false. No software on the market can protect you from every threat, especially emerging threats. It cannot keep your PC running faster for years as they say, and it is not all you will ever need. If any of these claims were true the government or Microsoft would have bought the company for billions, but it is all unequivocally false. I am absolutely floored there is not a class action lawsuit against them yet. Just wait and see. Any way, all PC Matic is is re bundled PC Mechanic software from 10 years ago that has been updated. They should be ashamed for ripping all their customers off.

A great fan of PC Matic, and have three computers with it installed–On the one I have committed to Win 10 Beta the Ant-Virus (which has been very effective) caused the Upgrade on Win 10 feature to be blocked as well as Windows Defender. Removal of the anti-virus solved the problem and I assume it will be corrected on the final version of Win 10.Whether it is or not, PC-Matic is going to remain on my PC’s because I have been very pleased with it’s operation and more so with it’s dedicated support who have never failed me.

  • doug

ran pc matic. all my programs were deleted. system restore can find no record at all. I’m so sure my clients will understand that all of the files that were on my computer are gone. I’m so bummed I don’t know what to do. But if I could lay my hands on the liars who convinced me this was a decent program, I’d probably kill them.

  • Kevin C

PC-Matic keeps trumpeting their Virus Total “VB100 award” ..but that was for the year 2013, in the most recent tests (2014) they didn’t get the award thanks to hundreds of “false positives”.

Be honest PC-Matic and advertise your most recent results, not those from 2013!

    • Andres Daniel Montenegro C.

You re right PCMATIC is a CHINESEMADE PRODUCT and like everything made overthere…DOESNT WORK!!!!! itsa scam!!!!

Yes more complaints. Installed PC Matic and computer was worse than before. Emailed for help and they sent me some long email for me to try fix problem. Me, NOT a computer guy, tell them its too confusing for me and would need some one from PC Matic to help me do what they want. They responded that they don`t do that and was refunded my money. My computer now is 10X worse and most the time can`t even boot up. Stay away. Going to have a friend try and get me where I was before PC Magot.

I use Webroot and have never had a problem. Yes I pay about 80 dollars a year for it but that is for three computers. When I have had to contact their tech support, they have been very helpful. They not only scan for virsus themselves but also allow their customers to report new virus that may not be there yet. I agree one of the best ways to not get a virus is to not open any attachments from people you don’t know or are not expecting one from and not go to questionable sights as well as making sure any links are going where you expect them to go. I got Webroot because a tech support friend of mine suggested it. it even will tell you if a website you are going to is known for malware/addware. you can still go to it if you want but you get the warning.

  • Rob

I’ve had ESET for 3 years now and NO problems. 3 computers for 65, if I remember.
Might want to try it out.

  • Terry

I can’t get programs to open, keep getting error msgs… This is the beginning of a nightmare I can see

  • Clyde

If it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is.  Avoid this software like it is Ebola, since it will kill your computer.

  • Keith Weinberg

PC Matic will load your system with trojans, root kits and all sorts of other nastiness. I’d stay away from ANY CNet/Softonic downloads as well. Pretty much any website that doesn’t make it REALLY clear what you’re downloading (if you see multiple buttons that say “Download”, close the tab).

  • Rosa Nunez

PC Matic does not work. I got a virus and when I called them to check my computer they said I needed to pay $ 189.00 plus labor. I canceled my subscription, since with other companies I never had a virus. I have not received a refund, and nobody answers the phone.

  • Bob_Oscar

PC Matic really needs to refine their claims. Randy White says $150 one time for 5 computers which is a deception at best. There is no way this is true unless this is like an *entrance fee* and then nickle and dime you for all other *services*.

D**n! their main website is even flagged by WOT as a spam site…I am longing for one of these companies to give us the strait story for once…I would sign up…until then, I’ll take my chances…

  • long time computer tech

i am very surprised by all of the hate here on this site for PCMAtic. I have been using their program to help clients avoid excess problems so they don’t have to call a tech so much . Works really well.

i have had a great reduction in panic calls after getting clients to use
PCMatic. I get nothing for it and less opportunities to be called in a panic, but it does help people not very computer savvy to have a secure system.

i do not work for the company and am a LONG time computer tech. Just my two cents. Had this working on at least 30 systems and all are doing very well.

    • Bob_Oscar

      Rob, is that you?

      • pete

    • Tim Price

this guy works for pc matic lmao

    • Clyde

I completely disagree with you.  We get PCs in our shop on a regular basis that are victims of PC Matic.

    • Donald_R_S

The phoney screen name, “Long time computer tech”, says it all. I’ve never witnessed a fictitious or fraudulent organization go to such great lengths to conceal their scams.

    • DonJuan

You are full of s**t and I would just bet you work for those scam artists at PC Matic

    • Andres Montenegro

You are probably one of the crooks from the freaking PC Bullshit company…another chinese b*****d fooling americans like me…go to hell PC MATIC THIEVES!!!!

    • Edith Kurie

I’ve always had Norton with no problems. I was curious about PC Matic but since Norton works well I have no reason to change.

  • FloridaJim

I have an independent computer repair man whom I trust depend upon he said this was a scam I believe him.

  • jabney8

Signed up for PC Matic yesterday – it won’t run – keep getting errors. Reported it to PC matic – they responded saying they are experiencing technical difficulties – and closed the ticket. Funny how the payment process didn’t experience technical difficulties. In any case – I wrote them again and said it wasn’t closed because it still didn’t work and I got some nonsense about closing a ticket once a response is sent BUT if I respond back it is automatically re-opened. So – from all indications – I have to sit here all day responding in order to keep a repair ticket opened. Asked for a refund – don’t see that happening either.

  • Robert Britt

  • CR

I NEVER had a blue screen before i installed PC MATIC in Jan and get one a month are they causing this,?? now my MSN will not connect, i thought they wer supposed to stop this happening, How can i speak to someone in English if there is NO PHONE NUMBER anywhere

  • BevM

Does anyone on here that is computer savvy know how to uninstall “Total System Care”? I clicked on a link to uninstall an “ASK TV Toolbar” and it installed on my laptop! When I get on my Programs and Features, click on it and click “Uninstall” it says “You don’t have permission to complete this action. Please contact the admin. of the computer.” I AM the admin. of MY computer! Between the PC Matic DEBACLE (which I have to say, I WAS refunded my entire purchase price in one day!) and this program that I DID NOT WANT, my computer is running like it’s full of viruses and malware. It’s never run so bad. I’m now in the process of uninstalling all of PC Matic’s components but still can’t uninstall “Total System Care.” Can anyone help? Thanks!!

    • Bill Mc

Go into Task Scheduler (just type it into your search bar; RIGHT click it and “Run as Administrator.” When the Computer Management screen opens, click on Task Scheduler Library. In the center panel, it will list all running tasks. In the second panel under that, click on Actions to see what each task is set to. Go to Ask Toolbar, and ANY PC Matic or PC Pitstop item, and RIGHT CLICK it, and shut off OR preferably, DELETE.
Then go to your Control Panel’s Programs & Features (or “Uninstall a Program” depending on your panel’s view settings) and UNINSTALL any program that is from PC Matic/Ptistop, etc, Ask, etc. In the list, you will have a column of who the software is from – pay attention to that too – you may see other things from PC Matic or OTHER similar ROGUE/BOGUS programs.

      • Bill obviously you have a good knowledge of PCs and how Windows works. It’s sad some of the answers people give to to others. I am so glad I learned the past 40 years how computers work and function. It helps to know the “internal workings” of the OS before you tinker with it.

    • I am a retired Senior Systems Engineer Technologist from Microsoft after 10 years with the company, and I understand customer frustrations on issues like this. I don’t really know if it will work in your case because it is dependent on the OS and BIOS that computer is using. But, I would try a company called IOBit Uninstaller which is a FREE piece of software. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about PC Matic, and I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENT IT as a solution to people as they do not have any PHONE support (from what I hear) and they do not use Remote Access Services to solve issues. Rather … they have the CALL BACK and email support. I don’t trust technicians that I cannot talk to especially after being in computers since the IBM/360-70 mainframes of the 1970s. Bill Gates would NEVER have allowed us to put out a product with this many bugs for consumer purchase (although, I admit we screwed up royally with Windows 95 :-) ) …. just my personal opinion, and I hope you can get your problem solved … best of luck

  • Mike Tanco

I just had one of your technicians try to hit me up for another $200. I purchased your product and now I just want it switched over to my new computer.

  • Mike Tanco

    Please contact me at: 214-352-0752

  • Mike Tanco

I had to change computers and now PC Matic doesn’t show up as protecting my computer. What do I do next?

    • Keith Weinberg

Fall to your knees and thank God.

  • Clay Slape

I’ve been working on Personal Computers since 1981 (32+ years). May I offer some advice here.

    1. PCMatic is NOT an ALL INCLUSIVE PRODUCT that DOES IT ALL. It is a poor attempt at a good hack.
    2. PCMatic sucks, period. Rob Cheng should have a class action law suit filed against him, PCMatic and
PC PitStop LLC for false claims and false advertising.
    3. AVG and Malwarebytes , if installed together, can handle most viruses and malware.
    4. Vipre is another great product if you don’t like AVG and Malwarebytes.
    5. If your computer gets RUN OVER with VIRUSES, YOU DO NOT have to buy a new computer.
The Hard Drive can be restored to FACTORY CONDITION and the OS reinstalled so that its like NEW
out of the box. If the BIOS gets infected, then yes, you would need to buy a new computer.
    6. Rob Cheng claims that the “Test” was the MOST “Prestigious” events. It’s really not. It’s one of many
held all over the world throughout the year. He’s tooting his own horn.
    7. Trend Micro, Norton and McAfee are top heavy products and are difficult to uninstall.
    8. Rob Cheng claims his product is the only product to stop “CryptoLocker” and that is a false claim.
Vipre is a product that can detect and stop “CryptoLocker”. There are others.
    9. Any piece of software, like PCMatic, that “Takes Over” your computer is NOT good for it one bit.

    • Keith Slim-Tolagai

Do you have to take your computer in to do this or can it be done by an “un” professional like me?

      • Shelley Getts Brunson

I’m not a professional… but, I just restored mine yesterday, due to the way it was running. I’m sure it had picked up “something” somewhere. You have to back up all of your pics & documents. I just loaded all of mine to a flash drive. Once the computer is empty, click on the big button to see your programs (bottom left corner)… and type in “restore”. Selections will come up for restoring your computer to an earier time. MINE was too messed up to go back to any certain time to restore… but, you may be able to do that, if you don’t have a HUGE problem. If you DO… then UNDER those restoring points dates/times… there’s a blue link underneath that box that says, “advanced options”. If you click on that… it will take you to where you restore to factory fresh. NOTE: if you’ve added/downloaded any programs… they will be removed, and you’ll have to reinstall them. It will only leave the programs that came with your computer. Make sure you save all your photos, videos, music, and documents that you want to keep, on an external hard drive, CD, or flash drive BEFORE you click to restore. It’s all automatic after that… you just click and wait. Took mine about 30 minutes.

      • Clay Slape

You can do that yourself. Most systems now come with the Operating System Pre-Installed and a Recovery Partition setup that you can run from within Windows or at boot time by selecting the options at boot up. Dell, HP, Asus and a few others provide you with option at boot for diagnostics and recovery.

If your system does not have it, then you would have to boot from the CD-ROM drive with the OS Disc that came with your computer and completely un-install the partitions and remake them, format them and install the os. It’s not difficult, but time consuming. Could do it in as little as an hour up to 4 hours depending upon your system and software you will have to reinstall.

    • Shelley Getts Brunson

I just restored mine yesterday to factory condition. (Not a pro) So far, it seems to have eliminated the problems I had going on. I have 2 questions for you, pertaining to your post.
      1.) What is the BIOS?
2.) Is Vipre the protection program you recommend, or do you have another preference?
I’m currently trying to figure out what to go with, since dumping my computer. It has Norton in it, but I haven’t reactivated it. Many of my slowdowns & locked screens seemed to be connected to Norton.
Thanks for any info you may provide!

      • Clay Slape

The BIOS is the internal programming on the motherboard of your computer that allows the computer to function with all the devices connected to it. They periodically update them. Depending upon the manufacturer of the system and its age.

Vipre by ThreatTracker (used to be GFI) is a great product. Developed in the early 2000’s as a Malware detector and remover from Sunbelt Software, GFI added the Anti-Virus components to it and now it is a great product. It has low impact on system resources and is easy to configure and updates daily.

        • Shelley Getts Brunson

          Thank you, Clay!

          • mike

            BIOS is FIRMWARE;

BIOS (basic input/output system) is the program a personal computer’s microprocessor uses to get the computer system started after you turn it on. It also manages data flow between the computer’s operating system and attached devices such as the hard disk, video adapter, keyboard, mouse and printer

          • phaedrus63

Well said Mike. A much more accurate description.

    • Richard

1st- I would run Windows Restore utility to a point in time BEFORE PCMATIC was installed.

2nd – If I had no restore point and after doing 3 (below), I would run the Windows Recovery disk.

3rd- I would Run an anti-malware program that should identify and eliminate viruses, rootkits, etc from your PC – even malware that may be lying dormant within my PC or embedded in the disk (C:) drive and remote drives, router, modem. I like Webroot Internet Security Complete. (see 4 below)

4th- If the EPROMS (eraseable read-only memory) in the PC such as the BIOS chip are infected, I would run a utility to remove any infections including any other malware that may be hidden or morphing itself.

5th Finally, if the problems persist I would either get a DoD erase utility from an Office Store and run it on the PC and all drives.

6th If all else failed, I would replace the all the infected drives in the PC and hope that I had an uninfected backup of my files and setting PRE PCMATIC and restore it using the backup utility that was used to create the backup.

7th If all failed and the infections returned, I would conclude that the EPROM chips in the network had been infected and had repopulated the infections to the NEW disk(s).

8th In the case of item 7th, I would replace ALL hardware that has EPROM chip(s) in it such as the PC or ALL PCs on the network, the modem, the router, external input / output devices that contain EPROMS, etc.

(I was infected via opening a email. A virtual Exchange Server was Installed seemingly. I got to the system logs BEFORE they were remotely RECALLED as was true about the original email and a copy of it that I made for analysis.

The logs indicated the attack vectors and the infection actions and then they were RECALLED by the hacker while I was reading them.

It had happened to me including the EPROM infections according to the system logs. I had hoped that the earlier steps would have solved the issue.

      • Clay Slape

If the EPROMS are infected, you either replace with a new EPROM or toss it out. Webroot is known as one of the CRAPWARE products. And, if you have a virus inside the embedded in a hard drive, you’ll have to toss the drive out as with the ERPOM issue. Try to run either one only perpetuates the infection.

        • Professionally, Richard I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Clay as the EPROM comments you make are a little off-base – no offense. Each of us technical support people have our own methods and beliefs about OS systems.

    • Andres Daniel Montenegro C.

You are totallyright..they are a SCAM….a CHinese scam!!!!!

    • And after 40 years in the industry, and retired from Microsoft, I totally agree with you. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone because it seems they keep wanting more money to make things work that SHOULD HAVE been fixed in the first place. Very much appears a scam, and it should be reported to the Federal government in a class action lawsuit.

    • Clay an excellent synopsis and help post. I am retired Microsoft systems engineer so I might add we designed a part of the Windows OS that is called “System Restore”. It is a little hard to find in Windows 10, but is readily found in previous versions by clicking the Windows icon lower left, choose SEARCH, and type “system restore”. It should appear in the list. Click on it and let it run. Follow the instructions, but DO NOT WORRY IF IT TAKES A WHILE TO RUN. It is not quick because it goes into the history of the OS and removes everything EXCEPT personal files from the system back to a particular date. We incorporated this many years ago because we realized that adding new hardware BEFORE the days of PNP would disrupt the core system. So a copy of the system OS was kept hidden on the drive, thus a restoration could run and eliminate the offending software installation – eliminating many hours of reinstall and reconfiguration of config.sys files and headaches.

Hope this helps. It is refreshing to read a post that is well thought, and absolutely is accurate to the Tee. Agreed, the last resort is to REINSTALL TO FACTORY CONDITION and do the updates and go from there, but that usually is with a very serious problem that SYSTEM RESTORE cannot fix. Hopefully PC Matic does not screw up the system restore code of the software. People, you can trust Clay’s postings – I hope you feel comfortable to trust me ;-)

    • Interrocitor

I think I said this just the ther day about this P.O.D.S app “Forutne 5000 fastest growing…” – the only clue you need. And trust me the law suit is waitng in the wings. P.O.D.S. D = dog nuff said. Rob Cheng is probably a Chinese sleeper using his app to implant chinese malware for when they take over the world.

  • Bara Bam

Who is the Chinese dude on their commercial bashing all the countries in the world. What an irony. He is oriental and basing all other countries. Funny and fake commercial. Their product is junk. I rather run Malwarebyte and AVG for free from CNET.com

    • Patriot

Anyone that wants to advertise that they will be fully understood when selling or explaining their product gets my vote. At least when they are ripping me off I can understand them. Ever thought of that? By the way, He is not bashing the other countries of the world. He is trying to help people in this one. I read the reviews below. Most of them are advertising for another product or Liberals pissed off by the speaking English comment. Bara Bam is a major Liberal (read his blog and you will probably buy PC Matic tomorrow.

      • Clay Slape

The one thing they don’t mention is that if your PC develops a problem after you purchase their product, they charge you $200.00 or more to fix it. This is a per incident cost that is not disclosed in their advertising.

        • Kevin C

PC matic are such scammers, even their TV ads are creepy.

    • Clay Slape

He is Rob Cheng, owner of PC-Matic

    • TreadNot

PC Matic looks cheezy on T.V. and I’m not surprised that it is getting such bad reviews. What’s worse though Bara Bam, is your stupid remarks about the appearance of the dude on TV. Your remarks imply that if you look ‘oriental’ that you are not, or could not be, an American—–true ignorance on display.

  • may

since i got pc matic it has been a disaster and i do not know what to do, can anyone help me

    • BevM

I got on their site, I was able to get a refund right away. There was another program that installed on my computer when I was trying to get rid of a toolbar, I’d previously tried to uninstall it and it said I didn’t have permission! The minute I uninstalled all of PC MATIC’S programs, I was unable to uninstall it right away, NO PROBLEM! Kinda makes me think PC MATIC was the PROBLEM, and I was unable to contact them to help me uninstall that program.
That being said, with your comment being “a month ago” I don’t know if you can get a refund, but you can uninstall it and cut your losses or file a complaint with the BBB to get your money back.

    • dlong6839

I went to their website and entered the information, such as order number, date, etc., and within 3 to 4 minutes I was told I had gotten my money back. I haven’t seen it credited to my credit card yet, but it went smoother than I thought it would. Good luck.

  • Kellix

They just showed that cheezy commercial, I’m a server admin and PC tech for 13 years, all the anti-virus companies they supposedly beat are FREE, Avast, AVG, Windows essentials. They didn’t mention, Trend Micro or Webroot because these anti-viruses apps would kick PC matics a*s. It just seems like a sham, Windows XP is going to quit making updates were going to keep making them.. REALLY, Microsoft is going to let you the software to patch this company is full of crap.

    • Clay Slape

The REASON they didn’t show your products mentioned is because they are rated too low on the ratings list. I prefer Vipre, a much better product than most and it too was not mentioned on his list. Rob Cheng is an idiot. I got the FCC and FTC after him for his ads for PCMatic. That is why HE appears in his ads now and shows PCMatic pricing is $50.00 for 5 Computers or $10.00 a piece.

    • coolit10

Trend Micro did not stop Cryto Locker on my office machines. We had few documents so we just burned it out. Where is NSA or other Fed agencies? I don’t mind paying taxes for protection, I do mind paying taxes to be spied on. I think they know they will run out of prison space pretty quickly if they keep looking for pittily stuff. Major malware is not pittily stuff, as it affects people and businesses. We are all criminals now until proven innocent. The new frontier.

  • Stargazer32

    there phone number is 843 203 0422

    • BevM

Thanks for the phone number! I installed PC Matic a couple of days ago and my computer is running like crap! I also tried to get them to help me uninstall a toolbar that installed from a link I clicked on but could get NO customer support. I’ll be on the phone in the morning.

  • Hammer

Beware the twinkle in the eye…..that twinkle is looking at your wallet…….

  • thestormy

wow! these reviews changed my mind. I am not computer savvy & was looking for something good & simple, but I will stick with COMODO,it has served me well. I do dislike trying to converse with foreign technicians with whom I have a hard time understanding ,but they use a blog screen to chat so problem solved. I wanted to change because they advertise as an American co. & talk to Americans, but it sounds as though that may not be the case.

  • Michael B

All these ‘complaints’ here. Hmmm … as suspicious as the product itself.

    • BevM

Install it on YOUR computer and see how “suspicious” the complaints are.

  • stgcret

I saw their ad on TV. I went to their website to check it out. I had a question on compatibility between Norton 360 and PcMatic; whether to uninstall Norton first or not. I emailed them the question twice, because they appear to not have a phone number (big red flag for me). I am still waiting for a response!! It doesn’t matter because after reading what I have read here, my suspicions are pretty much confirmed. I will probably stick with Norton 360. I have it for 7 or 8 years now and never had an issue. It cost $89.99 a year. I am going to look in to AVG Premium and Avast, however.

    • Cathy Featherstone Offutt

you can go to amazon and get Norton 360 for less than $50.
it is good for 3 computers.

      • BevM

I just got it on Norton’s site, from an ad at the bottom of Amazon! It was the same, $49.99 for one year for three computers. I’d also had Norton for years but wanted to support an “American Business” not having a clue that “American” (Rob Cheng – do we really know?) was selling me a bunch of crap! What’s “customer support” when you have no way to contact them? WORTHLESS!!

      • Clay Slape

The Main problem with Norton, McAfee and Trend is that they are resource intensive, meaning that they take a lot of overhead from the memory of your computer to run, same as PCMatic.

        • Kevin C

Norton and McAfee used to be total resource hogs but not anymore.

    • Clay Slape

Usually, 2 or more Anti-Virus packages tend to cancel the effectiveness of each other out. There are only 2 instances that I have found this not to be true. Running AVG and Malwarebytes and or Vipre and Malwarebytes.

      • coolit10

I am running Panda, since Trend Micro let through Cryto Locker into my business, in combination with Malware bites and has been a breeze for months. Use to have Advanced Tech, but they are now in receivership. I would pay well for good protection and not be scammed. Our files weren’t cheap to produce and we should not expect to be able to protect them cheaply. I truly feel this should be the responsibility of Microsoft both in patches and better software. The automotive companies recall and repair constantly on models 10 or more years old. We bought the software to work, if it quits working they should fix it. They should know what is out there. It is not like Boy Gates can’t afford it. Bill, ignorance is bliss for you.

    • Trust me .. I have used Norton since 1990, and I have never been dissatisfied. The company released concurrent with Windows 95 in 1995, and they have been on top of most problems better than any others I have used. It’s costly, but it is a matter of do I pay to keep things running, or do I go cheaper or PC Matic … then when problems occur … my systems are down x hours or days? Not advisable to run more than one Anti-Virus protection package, and Windows 10 does have some powerful protections built in with Windows Defender (but I still caution on the side of using Norton 360). …. just my opinion .

  • Ray

These advertisements are so misleading and irritating. I didn’t notice PC Matic until they started making Microsoft look like some evil company for no longer supporting XP. XP came out in 2001. A lot changes in 13 years. We’ve moved on from VHS because there was something better. We stopped using those big clunky CRT TVs because there was something better. 7 is better than XP. If you don’t like it, try Mac, or hell even Linux. But times change.

The best way to protect yourself from harm is to pick up some basics, like not just opening every attachment you get in your email, adblockers and the like. You can protect yourself from Cryptolocker by not opening everything you see, and making sure that “Download” link will actually download what you want and isn’t just some ad/malware.

  • Foster Little

I installed PCMatic on my computer yesterday and am calling my Credit Card for a reversal of the charges today. There is no contact communications with anyone at PCMatic to assist in any way.

  • Mary

Wow! you mean their claim to support XP is a lie. I’m glad I checked here first.

    • Shirley R. Scott

Me too. This is why I checked this before enrolling.

    • BevM

      Wish I would have :(

  • You know, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Your best defense against malware is common sense, use of a router, and avoidance of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. These two pieces of software are the route taken by much malware into your computer. Cut off that route by using non-Microsoft browsers and E-mail clients.

    • BevM

Which browsers are non-Microsoft? Bill Gates owns the world!

  • Randy B.

I don’t have it and won’t get it, I am a computer tech and just the statement that he writes that they will help as long as the customer having the issue can screenshot the problem or prove it throws up all kinds of red flags, and to me that tells me they are mediocre at best and are only interested in money. Most normal people who have the issues aren’t techs so how can they prove what most don’t understand, and to ask for a screenshot is the lamest kind of customer service and support. You just don’t treat your customers that way and clearly you care more about an award but here is the rub with that, when they are testing for the awards they will use their best techs and the best parts of the program there is no customers its a lab test meaning no real customers. Now if you put the same effort in your customer support you might be a d**n good company. But you don’t care about your customers apparently and that’s what counts. But I will give you a reward you just won my VBBIGFATGOOSEEGG AWARD. I can smell your stock falling now

  • Edward

Stop complaining here and pick up phone and call your states attorney’s office. Shut this scam down once and for all.

I dont the the Big MSFT gave them the code do you ?

  • Rascal

Glad I checked the reviews My AVG is due to expire and will be renewing it. My computer does run slow at times but its not nothing regular maintenance wont fix. PC MATIC sounds like a NORTON registry cleaner I bought a few year ago with some other options with it. It caused more damage than it fixed. I’ll not buy PCMATIC until I see the rave reviews

  • Nick Boodris

I had PC Matic installed in my computer several years ago. Their claim that your computer will run faster is a lie. Not only did my PC run half its speed but, it imbeds itself in your startup with all these annoying ads to purchase an upgrade. It didn’t take long to fry my computer. I took it in to these computer geeks near my home that build computers for businesses and they told me why I installed PC Matic. They said its the biggest scam around. A virus fried my mother board. Had to get another desktop. Stay away from this company.

    • anon

      scammed twice then lol

    • MAW

Hello, well NO virus can fry your motherboard. I was issued the first patent on software many years ago, and have been into computers over 40+ years. I know PC Matic is a fraud and a con, but those geeks you took your computer to also ripped you off. Sorry just had to say something.

  • Ralph Shiplett

We were induced to believe that a download of your product was free, and nothing was said about a trial period or a yearly charge. Your product did nothing to protect my wife’s computer. Shortly after installing it her computer was attacked and the internet system was shut down. We find a $49 charge on our charge card in your files. We had to hire a Tech to come out at $50 an hour to unscramble the mess. We are cancelling our account, and will go without. You have our name and e-mail address, so you should have no accessing our account and cancelling it. Our telephone number is 906 297 6003. I expect a cancellation notice e-mailed to us.

Ive bought a lot of these registry cleaners, none of them worth the money IMO, except Regserve.

    • Clay Slape

As far as simple registry cleaning goes, one product I’ve used and recommended is CCleaner. It’s FREE. They offer a pro version for a fee, but the FREE version will keep your pc running nicely and won’t be intrucive on your pleasure or productivity.

  • Richard Ruff

Amazing…when I sign in pc matic is on my screen and can’t go to any web sight unless I sign up for pc-matic….almost inposible to uninstall but managed to get it uninstalled….not the best part yet…..lost access to msn and outlook. had to unplug my dsl and reboot it before I could access anything on the computer. Needless to say if it happens again someone is going hear about it big time. Amen D**k Ruff

  • clyde

I puchase pc madic then they wanted 200 dollars to fix my problem

  • I’ve been using PC Matic for for over 5 months and have it running on six computers. It works great. I had one issue with supershield and the tech helped me fix it. I have no complaints. I’ve used other good antivirus programs and am more pleased with the PC Matic.

    • Clay Slape

You are a rare bird but be warned. Trouble ahead with that product. You may not be singing their praises for much longer.

  • Wayne

Wish I would have read these comments before purchasing also. PCMatic did NOTHING to help my laptop, even after what seemed like HOURS trying to resolve anything with PCMatic tech. Now a year of not even using that PC, they charge for renewal. Phone # listed on credit card bill for the charge is 843-628-1547. I called and left message to remove charge from credit card (no human answered). We’ll see what happens.

  • jack walker

i am so tired of getting riped off with companes like pc matic i can’t seem to be able to get my codes so i can see if it works i never got a e-mail after i purchached it and the one i copyed wont work pc matic i will tell every one i know you just rip people off

  • Ron Martin

Ron Martin–I have been chasing these jokers for over a year for service with nothing to show and have contacted my card company to refuse any payments. The frustration trying to deal with them was extremely high and am glad to be out of it.

  • mary

anything advertised FREE is not free.they want your credit card and or no free deal

  • sandy kearns

wow thank you all for your comments i was so ready to order this
I will stick to my Norton which i have been using for over 5yrs now.

  • Walter J Sprenger

You have charged our Credit Card for $49.99 and we do not use this and do not want it. Please refund the charge on our Credit Card. You are a SCAM. We have contacted our Credit Card Company and told them to remove this charge.

  • Margaret Luckey

I have not had pcmatic for quite some time now but yet today they took 49.99 dollars out of my account for a renewal fee that I did not request to renew.

    • Max

Best ane easiest way to stay secure and have No computer downtime is to install Ubuntu Linux 12.04 or in April 14.04. I have used Ubuntu for almost six years and have never had virus or malware issue and no down time and have not spent a penny for anything> Programs are free in the Ubuntu Software Center. Easy to use too!

  • Jen

So very happy I read these reviews before I tried PC-Matic…Thank you to everybody for sharing their experieces!!

  • People all you need is Microsoft security essentials for your virus protection, superantispyware or Malewarebytes free editon for your spyware stuff. Those will usually remove all your issues and all the start up crap that is called spyware. DO NOT BUY THE PC CRAP ABOVE THAT THEY ADVERTISE ON TV. AND DON’T GO TO THE GEEKS AT BEST BUY. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY. Hell I charge less than $50 and always solve the issue. Just need to know what to look for.

I purchased PC MATIC,installed, my computer is SLOWER, I ,would like to cancel and get my money back, I plan on contacting the TV company advertising this program, indicating this program seems to be a scam

    • Suck it up and remember your daddy’s warning: "If it seems too good to be true…"

  • wow. to be honest whatever they did actually made a difference. for a few days. then all the problems that were fixed returned with a vengeance. sucks to get ripped off. I too attempted to get support after the fixes flopped and i’m getting zip back from them.
i’m going to file a complaint with the BBB.
note to self: fairy dust solutions – avoid them
probably time to upgrade the laptop anyway

  • Jim Evans

Everyone turn this company in to your State Attorney General, and get it put out of business.

    • Javert

But "the flowers are on the house". If they are really honest they would post the costs after the "free download".

  • Patrick

I sent three e-mails to PC MATIC for help with a problem and have had no reply!!!

I purchased pcmatic and am not able to download it on my computer and I am connected t

  • Jane

I saw the commercial on TV about this company and downloaded it.. I am so stupid for not looking online about them first but that’s what they are hoping for. It has done nothing but play havoc on my system and will have to send my pc to a repair man to fix. thank god I didn’t pay for it after downloading.

    • Jim Evans

If everyone who bought this product, they should contact their Better Business Bureau and their State Attorney General. With enough complaints, the company can be put out of business, but everyone involved must report them.

  • Joseph M. Downs

    Dear Mr. Cheng:

In early June, I purchased PC Matic to enhance the performance of my computer. I thought I had properly downloaded and run your program. About two weeks later I received an email from PC Matic indicating that I had not run the program. I tried twice and wrote an email to PC Matic. I was provided with instructions to follow. I went through the prompts, but at the end there was a bar I couldn’t get beyond. I wrote an email explaining the problem and requested someone to call me. No one did. Since there was no good faith effort on PC Matic part to help me run the program, I called my credit card company and stopped payment to your company. I was satisfied at that point.

However, I soon notice all sorts of problems with my computer. I found it necessary to hire someone to fix my computer. The technician had to change many things in my computer to get it working to an acceptable level. The technician also told me that my computer was attacked purposefully by programs sent by PC Matic. My computer is so infected by viruses that it is beyond repair. I have found it necessary to purchase a new HP desktop computer.

Based on what the technician told me, I am going to hire a forensic computer expert to verify that my computer was intentionally, knowingly and willfully sabotaged by PC Matic. If this is the case, I am going to the Bucks County District Attorney and swear out a complaint of criminal mischief and conspiracy against you, as the CEO, and your employee who attacked my computer.

    Joseph M. Downs

    • LaVerne Jones

How did you get this fixed? I do not have a phone number or any way to reach them .Have paid for it but computer slower than before.

    • Jim Evans

You should of turned them into the Better Business Bureau and also your state Attorney General.

  • Dr PC

I love PC Matic…. Because I am a Computer Tech…And after you get Bent-over.. I will be working on your Computer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM.

  • Russ

This is why I use Linux, No Virus in a Linux OS

  • Hi there I am from Australia, this time I am watching this cooking related video at this web page, I am genuinely happy and learning more from it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Jack

    Wise Care 365
    Advanced System Care 6
    Baidu PC Faster

    All good and free

  • PED

A simple, cheap, and effective solution to speed up your computer:

    1. Store your important documents, pictures, music, and random downloads to a cloud service such as Dropbox or SkyDrive.
    2. Reformat your hard drive
    3. Reinstall your operating system
    4. Minimalize your software installs by only installing those that you actually use
    5. Do this once a year
    6. If your computer still has issues after all of the above, then the root of the issue may be hardware related.

    • Cloud recommendation is poor. How do you get to your files if your ISP is down for any reason?

  • Ross

Pcmatic has shown me that these "services" are pretty much bogus. I noticed a little improvement at first, but, I still have to restart at least 5 times a day. save your money. Scale of one to 10……I give it a one.

  • RageAlmighty

When I first saw this commercial, my friends thought it was be the death of the computer technician. I said, yeah right, if this product is so good, computers would last forever and everybody would download it. Guess what? For the money you would waste on this giant piece of crap software, you could hire a computer technician to do it for you and save money over what PC matic truly costs. You could get a brand new laptop at Walmart for less than PC Matic truly costs. I can’t honestly believe that most computer guys are liberal Obama loving Democrats, because they are generally complete morons who download PC Matic and expect Hope and Change for free.

    • A little rough, but I agree 150%! How are they still in business???

  • John Doe

This is a scam. As others have had just invest in a good external hard drive (newegg.com) or purchase an online backup service. Both are cheap and have their own pros and cons.

There are plenty of free software out there to keep your computer virus/spyware free. Avast has a free edition and Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty decent and comes with most newer computers. CCleaner is decent to clean off the garbage on your computer. However nothing will replace good PC habits such as not downloading garbage from the net or falling for some scam email.

  • guest

I got a free download. The first thing it told me was that my computer was in the bottom half of being good. My computer is only a few weeks old and I have only been to a movie data base site and a site to get baseball standings. The rest of the time I use it to copy karaoke disks. So my computer is not as cluttered as they claimed. I smelled a rat and didn’t waste my money. My internet provider is offering me a free virus program so will go that route.

  • Bill Sutter

PC Matic is crap and s**t all in one free my a*s it may be free to download to your computer but there is a high price to pay in order for it to get into your computer and another high price to get it out of your computer.__If you got any brains at all listen to there avertisment closely then you will see how much brains went into this advertisment ther all a*s holes and liers.

    • Yur Mum

And with PC Matic you can throw your money right in the garbage(for a "small" fee)!

    • Bill Wickes

You would do a lot better if you eliminate the bathroom talk and give specific examples of the problems. Otherwise you lack all credibility.

  • anonymous

Any idiot that falls for this very obvious scam is probably the same reason we have incompetent political party leaders in this country. Good god people what happened to common sense?

  • Tom Ford

I paid pc matic 49.99 and then I restored my pc to an earlier date and the PC Matic icon disappeared .
How do I get it back ???????????

Can it be possible Anyone of sound mind would purchase this schlok after viewing PCmatic’s Horrible TV Commercials….? Can it be possible…? …sadly the Same idiots that bought PCCrap.com bought ‘Hope and Change’, we are doomed. ha.

  • dennis feeney

Bring back the daughter/father duo commercial!! Your other actors are awful!!!

  • mob

I love PC Matic it has truely brought me so much more work from the idiots that installed it on their computers. Please keep up the scam…

  • Almost screwed

Goodness me…. I almost signed up

  • Nick

I am a certified computer tech, don’t ever buy an "online" service, tech’s use online services because they know how to use programs and scanners that are availible on line. I don’t know how many times I have been called to fix computers after people got scammed by purchaseing something like this. There are programs that can scan and fix computers for free, sometimes you will have no choice but to have an experienced tech do it for you.

  • Jim

PC Matic is truly a scam! Don’t be fooled by te extensive advertisement campaign if theirs!!! This company needs to be shut down!!

  • F**k

    Awesome F*****S

  • N.Russ

Get CCleaner.com. TRULY Free, no hassles, works, never get spam, and it makes my PC run beautifully.

    • Ross

Yes, I went to this site and it helped a lot.

    • L Bookwalter

I have used ccleaner (free version) for a year, and am very pleased with it. when I buy it will be CCleaner by Piriform.com.

  • mike

Just buy an Apple, for all PC’s suck!!!! No programs work!!!!!!!!

    • Jason

      Works fine for me.

    • technogod

Ummm… You’re not too bright, are you? Just because you’re inept doesn’t mean PCs suck. I’ve been using them since — probably — before you were born; *never* had a problem I couldn’t solve on my own. WITHOUT PC Matic, by the way. I doubt it’s of any use, and may be a scam, as many of these "fix-it" programs are. And, to @jimbritttn: It is, of course, impossible to repair hardware problems over the Internet (at least without the help of the person on the other end) but w/ remote access software it’s very possible to correct many software issues and user errors.

  • JPI

WHY DOESN’T THIS "FIRM" PROVIDE A PHONE NUMBER? I have submitted (on the web) requests to stop my PC Matic service (several times) and TO STOP CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD. Any legitimate firm would provide a phone number for customers.

    • Marshelia

Contact your credit card company. They can tell you who the biller truly is and probabley wiill have a contact number as well. Worked for me.

  • mike

I am so glad I read these comments – I’ve only been using computers for 2 years now but I have learned that no one gives anything worth having for free. The Mcaffee protection that came on my Acer was good but like so many I could not afford to renew . It took some good advice from friends , resetting some of my internet security & firewall parameters and viola’ – "Microsoft security essentials" a free download that is not overloaded with ads & crap none of us want. Now I am as fast and nearly as trash free as when I paid for protection. By the way remote servicing of pc’s is very possible, safe , and effective if the correct technician/company is chosen – it is interactive though and the tech must be allowed to access your pc , but as this is done you should supervise and always maintain control also. Try "mostlymouse pc support" Barry is a great tech!

That is not true, your ad is false because my computer is worse that before, it is slower, it takes 2-3 minutes to start, 2-3minutes to go to my e-mail, most of the time I got "this program is not responding" even though my computer have been scanned every other day. I have been complaining every week but nothing happened. I have just lodged a complain today 5/1/13.
This is not a good organization, those of you who are looking please look somewhere else.

  • jimbritttn

It is IMPOSSIBLE to "repair" a computer via the internet!

    • Dunlavy

I have nothing to do with PC Matic but I Googled it for fun after seeing a flower shop commercial. I’m a software engineer by trade. Now I happened across your comment and just had to say, "No, sir, you are wrong."

Repairing computers "via the Internet" is possible with an array of technologies. This is not a comment about PC Matic’s merit, but just a reply to your response.

      • Sean

I can second Dunlavy’s comment. I do this a lot with my client base. Sure there are some things which require a visit like adding memory, accessing the internet or blowing out the dust. If I can see my client on my remote desk client (LogMeIn), I can make sizable improvements and periodically monitor the computer’s health.

      • tech

I’m glad you commented because I was going to send a flurry of remote tools his way. Granted, your internet connection cant be messed up. As many of these posted have already stated, there is nothing like someone that knows what there doing, digging around and fixing the problems.

Buy an external hard drive. save the stuff you want and reformat your pc ,you can get a 1 terabyte for the same price if not cheaper than all this crap software that claims your PC will run faster blah blah blah.. just remember after you reformat your PC get a good anti-virus program from the start. it will save you alot of headaches

  • Debra Ferguson

Just spent $170 to have my computer professionally cleaned of all the ‘junk’ that PcMatic doesn’t get. It took 2 geeks almost 3 hours to get my mess fixed. I’m very disappointed!

    • jennifer sponseller

does neone have a phone number

    • david

      i would of charges $40

    • John Liberton

ESET Nod 32 has a free online scanner that’s well worth your time. No charge but it doesn’t protect real time. For that use M$ security essentials. Nod will find and kill and remove all virus etc. While Microsoft free anti virus program is better than nothing and better than any other free software I would run the free Nod online scanner once a week. If you bank with your PC then PAY FOR REAL PROTECTION Google ESET NOD 32! McAfee and Norton are other software just not for me.

  • karen

terrible product, my PC is more screwed up now then before, wish I had read this comment page before I ordered it – removed program and am going to try and get my money back, they should not be allowed to advertise this scam.

  • Dana S

I have seen the advertisement on tv…the man at the flower shop. Nowhere have I noticed in small print during the advertisement that there is a charge. Of course, I would think there would be after their free computer check. Deceptive advertisement is what it appears to be. We thought about giving it a try, but not after reading comments.

  • Paul Vines

When I fell for this scam I was told it covered five computers in my home. We have a desk top and a lap top. I have yet to figure out what they have done for the desk top. The only thing that tthey have done for the lap top is to have a pop-up at varying times and asking if I want PCMatic to search the computer for viruses, all for only $49.99 after I had already paid. I thought that I was scam proof but now I see that I am not the only one that fell for this scam. Now I really am scam proof !!!!

  • Joe Thibodaux

PC Matic is nothing more than smoke and mirrors! It is not user-friendly and has not improved my computer. It is the 2000’s version of Carpetbaggers. It costs $49.99 for this dead puppy. I highly suggest that everyone stay clear of this inferior product.

  • chuck

theres nothing like a human to make sure its cleaned correctly. I have found that the internet is about money: remember NO ONE gives anything away for free in America. And if its free there is always a catch. someone has paid thousands of dollars to make software, why would they just give it away?

  • Thelma Ali

Saw the advertisement on TV about PC Matic many times and was convinced…..so I downloaded the "free download", and all I got was an immovable part of the PCMatic screen that wouldn’t move or do anything…..I immediately removed it, uninstalled it, cause I was in fear that the program would damage my computer….Also, since this was a free download, (which I removed immediately, within 5 minutes, anyway when it didn’t work), I should not be charged without my consent through any means of payment, as noticed in other people’s comments…..I agree with the majority that this was a total scam, and I feel like this was deceiving advertisement….

  • @carla21264

this stinks bad I will never purchase this crap again! PC Matic!!

  • Lillian Carroll

Please unsubscribe me from pcmatic. Thank you.

  • Elizabeth Feren

Well I can tell you that "MY Clean PC. com is NO BETTER! I paid their $39 price as advertised, downloaded the software and wasn THEN told my PC had "too many" errors for the software to repair. Oh they wanted to repair if alright, …they just wanted an ADDITIONAL $200 to do it. Complete scam!

  • a PC tech

This kind of garbage on TV ads is pure snake oil. I’m a computer repair tech and see this kind of trash advertised all the time. STOP spending money on this trash and find a good tech to fix your PC’s… All this junk does is take your money and make your PC worse off than before…

    • PC Pitstop Support

We are a reputable company that has been around for more than 13 years. We offer free full tests on our website and software that can be purchased to help improve a computer. PC Matic is far and away the best and most complete program on the market for computer maintenance, as well as providing a leading edge security solution in SuperShield. The vast majority of our customers love PC Matic and renew their subscription every year, as well as many professional technicians purchase commercial licenses to use PC Matic to do computer repair and maintenance. For those customers that are not satisfied, PC Matic has a 30-day money back guarantee as well as free product technical support.

      • Bill

If you’re so reputable, why do 95+% of the people who comment on your product say it’s a scam? "Never get a virus again"?? That claim is clearly impossible for ANY reputable company to make. I am a computer repair technician and have seen malware on computers running $25,000 corporate virus scanners. Do you claim your product better than one costing $25,000? Incidentally, I routinely remove ANYTHING from PC Pitstop when I find it on a computer that’s in for service and the computer always runs better and faster as a result. Crapware never speeds up a computer.

      • Richard Mundy

The stuff you sell is crapware or junk ware plain and simple

I will never purchase this product again. I have not had the scans because they say I need my computer powered up to do it. Well the scan is scheduled for 5 GMT time, I sent an email saying I wanted to change the time and I was told if i was logged in, it would scan. I couldn’t find anywhere to change the time for the scans and the customer service was of no use to me. To say to be logged in is not true, because i was logged in and I just missed another scan and I was logged in.. Terrible product and I would recommend you don’t purchase it. I will not renew it again !!
